There are two types of dog people. Those that let their animals sleep in their bed and those that do not. We don’t share our bed with our dog; he shares it with us. As he’s gotten older, he likes to go to bed earlier these days. He’ll pace around in front of us at night impatient that we’re not ready to head up at the same time as him. Eventually, he’ll give up and head up on his own which inevitably means pushing him off the pillow when we do finally make it upstairs.
It does a number on our sheets. I wash them regularly, but it doesn’t take long before they start to smell like my pup again. It’s a small price to pay for the snuggles we get each night, but it is an ongoing challenge.
Mutt Nose Best creates a line of spa products for dogs including a line of U. Dog shampoos, conditioners, and Eau de Toilet sprays as well as Mutt Nose Best healing balms and ear/eye wipes. While our dog is a self-cleaning model and has only needed a bath after an unfortunate skunk incident, I was intrigued by the Eau de Toilet sprays. They have a lengthy catalog of scents including:
U. Berry Calm Puppy
U. Berry Clean Dog
U. Dirty Dog
U. Hairy Dog
U. Itchy Puppy
U. Pumpkin Patch
U. PUPermint
U. Puppy Dog
U. Smelly Dog
U. Tick Me Off!
I opted to try out the U. Smelly Dog which is a rosemary and peppermint scent. I did a few test spritzes on my dog who was a little confused but liked the scent enough to lick the spray. While he’s named after Mr. Darcy from Pride and Prejudice, he’s really not that sophisticated so I’m not sure he’s a perfume kind of pup but that’s okay.
I think the Eau de Toilet will be a perfect way to freshen up our bed between washings. I’ve also been trying it out on my couch because you know if we’re letting him up on our bed that he gets the run of our living room furniture too. The spray has a nice refreshing, clean scent that I really like. Maybe I will need to give him a direct spritz from time to time too.
Their products are made with locally sourced natural and organic ingredients.
They also run the Mutt Nose Best Paw It Forward Foundation. Here is an excerpt from the description of the foundation listed on the website:
“The Mutt Nose Best Paw It Forward Foundation is committed to advocating for the animal victims of domestic violence and their humans. Our goals are to raise awareness with educational programs, promote community resources and most importantly provide funding grants for existing domestic violence shelters to create pet friendly accommodations as part of the resources they are able to offer.”
They hold an annual “BARKK To End The Silence” Dog Friendly 5K to raise money for their foundation. They are in the process of putting together a volunteer team for this year’s race which they hope to run in September.

I know a few people with animals who should consider this. LOL When I read the title I thought of Phoebe from Friends and her song Smelly Cat! Find me here. LINK

Yes, no matter how diligent at cleaning you are, animals leave a certain scent in your house. It’s totally worth it in my opinion, but anything that helps freshen things up is helpful. Maybe Phoebe can write a jingle for U. Smelly Dog 🙂

I am the official dog sitter when my son’s family goes out of town. Occasionally I will find Logan on my bed, but usually he is under it. I used to let him sleep in the room at night, but he makes too much noise, lol, and now he is relegated to the hallway outside the room. His odor problem only comes from the fish based food he eats.- I’d rather he just smelled like dog.

My parents are the designated sitter on occasion too. My Mom gave up trying to keep him off the furniture. She started putting a blanket on the coach so he could lay down. He’s a persistent pup.

Oh Mr. Darcy is simply adorable. It’s hard to understand why you won’t alter your bedtime to accommodate his wishes. 🙂 Mutt Nose Best sound like a wonderful company with useful products and its Paw It Forward Foundation. Sweet smelling doggies and advocacy and support – what’s not to like about that?

What fun names for puppy products (I call all dogs no matter the age or size). My favorites are U. Berry Clean Dog, U. PUPermint, and U. Tick Me Off! Very clever.

I immediately thought of Pheobe in Friends singing Smelly Cat! Apart from the odd spider, I have no creatures in my apartment at all!

Aww, what a pretty dog! Our dog sleeps at my foot every night. I don’t smell her on the sheets, but I’m pretty sure they smell like her and I’m just used to it! My husband’s a bit of a napper, so as soon as he leaves town, it’s “sheet washing day.” When he’s home, I know he’s going to want to take a nap as soon as I get the sheets in the washer!

When I saw your post title I knew I needed to read it. My dogs are getting older and starting to develop that old dog smell, plus one has a skin condition that can cause him to smell if I don’t bathe him regularly. I have a special shampoo from the vet for him, but sometimes life gets busy and I miss his bath. So I’m definitely going to check this company. Girl Who Reads

I’ve only tried the one spray but I’m happy with it so far. They seem to have a lot of great products. I’ll be checking out more of them myself.

Dogs are such great companions, but they do tend to leave a bit of a funk behind when they’ve been on a lounge or bedding. This sounds like a wonderful solution.

I don’t have pets so I can’t really relate to this one – but I do love the names of some of the sprays and the fact that you named your pup after Mr. Darcy 🙂

I’m a huge Pride and Prejudice fan although my first choice was actually Rufus after the naked mole-rat from Kim Possible. Sadly, my girls nixed it so I forced Jane Austen on them.

I have managed to miss Kim Possible so can’t relate to that one… I’m glad you landed on Austen 🙂
