My Childhood
Are you nostalgic? While I tend to focus on the future, sometimes it’s still fun look back on the past, which is one reason I love memory keeping. Some of my nostalgia probably has to do with growing up extremely happy in Southern Maine. So many of my fondest memories are tied deeply with my childhood experiences here in Maine.

My Twenties
Do you like a night out? My twenties were spent hanging out with friends, enjoying spontaneous get togethers, exploring more of Maine, and heading into Portland for a night on the town. While those days are past, I still love checking out the latest openings or circling back to a favorite place, and I’m always up for a spontaneous adventure.

My Family
Are you looking for some family fun? My husband and I started our family while we were living down in Massachusetts, but my love of Maine never left, and we bought a camp on a lake close to Portland. For many years, we truly were spending our Weekends in Maine.

My Life Now
Do you want to know what life is like in Maine now? About a decade ago, we did some soul searching and realized that we wanted to be in Maine full time. We wanted to raise our family here and put down roots so we made the move back to Maine full-time.

I’m jealous that you guys can just zip up to Maine anytime! I’m in San Francisco, so it’s a little harder ; ).
But one place I always visit on my Maine vacations is Black Dinah Chocolatiers. Their HQ is in Westbrook (near Portland, but you probably already knew that), where they have a little kiosk shop and tours with free samples. It’s just the best chocolate I’ve ever had — the fresh truffles in their Farm Market Collection are to die for. Everything they can get from local farmers they do, like raspberries, blueberries, and apples (cacao beans are a bit harder to come by Downeast).
They also have a “Tasting Room” in Blue Hill, further up the coast, which has coffee treats and oh God, the sipping chocolate.
Anyhow, enjoy your Maine forays; I’ll be watching your progress from way out here.

Just stopping by to return your visit. Holy cow, kid! You’re post is so organized. I’ve only been to Maine once in 2005 when we took a cruise up there from Boston to Montreal. We “parked” out in the harbor and came in on the tenders to Bar Harbor. We did a lot of hiking around town there. It was just gorgeous. Going to get back up that way some day. Fingers crossed!
