And, be sure to check back on Monday, March 8th for my Theme Reveal Post. Looking forwarding to rejoining the challenge again this year!

Strange times call for rethinking the gratitude list.

Each year I participate in a memory keeping project called One Little Word® by Ali Edwards. This year I picked bliss as my word. The plan was to use bliss as my guide to making intentional choices throughout the year. I picked the word in January before 2020 went off the rails.

I started full of hope and excitement and although I drifted away from my word for many months I found my way back. The reality is that life will always be full of distractions. Happiness or a state of bliss doesn’t just happen. It is a result of the choices that we make.

I took The Science of Well-Being course offered by Yale through Coursera. It takes both a scientific and practical approach to happiness. One of the key ways to experience happiness is through expressing gratitude. Since I finished the course, I’ve been keeping a weekly journal logging everything I am grateful for this year.

Guess what I’m doing? It’s another week long Gish adventure.

As the pandemic continues and our available activities remain more limited, there is one bright spot. Well, one mostly bright spot that occasionally causes unreasonable pain and suffering. Gish, the Greatest International Scavenger Hunt, is a week long team adventure full off possibility and occasional moments of despair.

This post is an attempt to explain Gish in a concise and clear way that will translate to the masses. It’s not as easy as it sounds even for those of us that self identify as geeks and tear up when we hear the Gish rallying cry of “Death to Normalcy”. It’s all still pretty darn confusing.

#AtoZChallenge | Reflections on my fourth time. It’s all about the connections.

After taking a year off from blogging, I returned to the A to Z Blogging Challenge with my creative spark renewed. I spent March prepping all of my posts so that I could focus the majority of my time during April on visiting and engaging with other bloggers which is one of my favorite things about this blogging challenge.

It was both strange and exhilarating to be blogging again after a period of inactivity. It was also serendipitous. As news headlines grew more dire and states began to issue shelter in place orders, having blogs to read and comment on throughout the month was an enjoyable distraction.

#AtoZChallenge | Z is for Zeitgeist and crafty protest during tumultuous times.

These are challenging political times. This post is not aimed at spending time in that space. As I wrote about earlier during this challenge, I think podcasts and other formats are a better place to discuss complex topics especially when there are strong opinions on both sides.

What will the final verdict be on the current political zeitgeist? I don’t know, but creativity will definitely be a component, as it has been through many of the social and political upheavals our country has faced in the past.

In my research, I came across the word Craftivism which is a combination of craft and activism coined by Betsy Greer. What a perfect description!

There is also a manifesto which is shown below and was previously available on her site which is no longer active.
