#atozchallenge | K is for Kitchen Tours

I’m an HGTV addict. My favorite show is Fixer Upper with Chip and Diana Gaines. Love that show and love them. They are just so sweet together. And, of course they take run down, sad little places and turn them into gorgeous showpieces. Having lived through my own major renovation, I know first hand that it’s much more fun to see it all happen in an hour with the big reveal at the end. I have renovation envy.

I’ve also been known to catch a few episodes of Property Brothers or their competition show Brother Vs. Brother. The thing that stands out for me in Brother Vs. Brother is that everyone always wants to tackle the kitchen. It’s where you can be creative and really get that wow factor. Kitchens have a big impact on the overall appeal of a house. People love kitchens.

Something I enjoy is going on kitchen tours of local homes. While I love seeing all of the house, the kitchen has a special place in my heart, and tends to be the most interesting room on the tour. It’s like walking through the pages of my home decorating magazines. I’m always amazed at the range of styles that you see on these tours. While every kitchen isn’t necessary decorated to my tastes, I can appreciate the time and effort that goes into creating such personal spaces.

I’ve gone on kitchen tours in both Falmouth and Cape Elizabeth in the past but it’s been a few years since I’ve done one. The last tour I did was a garden tour through Raymond which was also a lot of fun but it didn’t give me my kitchen fix. With spring fever kicking into high gear, I think it’s time to sign up for another kitchen tour.

I found one upcoming Kitchen Tour scheduled through Maine Kitchen Tours. The tour will be of eight homes in the Falmouth area. A portion of the ticket sales will benefit the STRIVE Program, an area nonprofit serving tweens, teens and young adults with intellectual & emotional disabilities.

Here is a link to the full press release on the event: Falmouth Kitchen Tour. The tour is offered May 6 & 7, 2016. Sounds like a perfect activity for Mother’s Day Weekend!

I’ve never been on one, but I think I would love them! Especially a kitchen tour. I agree that its the most interesting room in the house. Maybe because I have an intense love affair with food – ha!

Touring open houses is always interesting! I prefer to do it when I’m not under pressure to buy anything, though, lol! We just purchased a house and I have no desire to do any immediate renovations, though we do have some planned for the future.

Didn’t expect to land on a kitchen tour while out blog hopping from North Carolina. Love it. If you have time and interest in hotels and inns, that’s my theme this year. Congrats on a blog that is easy to read and navigate. Such a relief. From one blogger to another….well done.
