There is something magical about a perfect summer day. It stays in our memory with such a force that we can easily return to it and relive the moments to brighten more dreary ones. Our trip to Monhegan Island was one of those days.
After a foggy boat ride out of New Harbor, we reached Monhegan Island where the sky was bright and clear. We immediately set off on the 4.4 mile Cliff Trail, which circles the outer edge of the island and opens onto one amazing ocean view after another. It is the embodiment of the rugged Maine coastline. Below is a slide show of images from our trip:
As we neared the end of the hike, we stopped into Monhegan Brewery for some delicious sour beers. It was a surprisingly busy brewery for such a remote location. The outside patio is the perfect spot to spend a summer afternoon. Lobster traps are piled high, forming a wall that borders the picnic covered patio.
We finished our day by heading back to the landing point and enjoying a lobster dinner outside, while soaking in the ocean views before heading back to the mainland. This day was filled with everything I love about Maine and I think of it often.
Why does this bring me bliss? Access to the outdoors is one of the many things about Maine that gives me bliss. A day spent like this enjoying the best of Maine renews my love for the place that I live and reminds me how lucky I am to be here.
What is your perfect summer memory?

I’m participating in a Blogging A-Z Challenge for April 2020. I will be posting new content every day this month except most Sundays. My best memory is my trip to Rameswaram which is at the southern tip of India. To reach Rameswaram one has to cross a bridge called the Pamban bridge built on the sea. Rameswaram itself is a pilgrimage center for devout Hindus. The temple of lord Ram in Rameswaram is known for its architecture.

I am fascinated by the many Maine islands I’ve seen on the Maine Cabin Masters show — and also the many vintage cabins that are dotted about them. Mohegan Island looks lovely.

Maine has many beautiful islands along our coastline. Monhegan is one of my favorites. I’ve actually never watched Maine Cabin Masters. I should check it out. I’m sure I’d love it.

Summer days remind me of a summer vacation when I was around 10. It was 2 months of learning to swim, eating mangoes, eating heaps of icecream, drinking coconut water.

I love them all. July and August can get a little humid but I don’t mind. September is a great month too where we still get some beautiful, warm days.
